Since 2016, the NLSA collaborated on more than 136 programs, serving at least 80,000 individuals for a over 228,000 contact hours. These activities include Professional Development workshops, student workshops, field trips, IMAX movies, summer camps, coding, robotics, festivals, faires, and environmental education/clean ups, with 64% of our clients from groups underrepresented in STEM/STEAM.
As a community of educators, parents and civic advocates, unified to connect students to the 21st century workforce, we focus on improving STEAM education for our students through achieving math and science proficiency as well as increasing awareness of and access to STEAM opportunities in the community.

The North Louisiana STEAM Alliance is a community of practice recognized by the STEM Funder’s Network STEM Learning Ecosystems (www.stemecosystems.org). Sci-Port Discovery Center a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is the host organization with Dr. Heather Kleiner as the founding chair. STEAM education refers to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The Arts were officially added to our name as of January 1, 2022.
